ANOTHER RECORD BREAKING

YOUTH SOCCER TOURNAMENT

FOR KANSAS CITY

Heartland Soccer and GSI  hosted  390 teams

from eight different states April 10-12

Once again Heartland Soccer  and GSI hosted a fantastically well attended KC Champions Cup. 390 teams played games at the Overland Park Soccer Complex, Swope Soccer Village, and The Polo Fields.

Over 600 games were played in 58 divisions on 28 fields at the three locations. Teams traveled from 8 different  states to participate. Over 2,000 hotel rooms were sold to accommodate the massive numbers of teams that were chosen to take part in the event.

The tournament kicked off Friday evening with games beginning at 5:00 PM. Saturday weather was perfect for soccer. On Sunday we experienced a few hiccups due to weather but by 9:30 AM  games resumed.

Awards ceremonies began at 12:00 PM on  Sunday and the last final was completed  around 9:00 PM.

Heartland Soccer and GSI were pleased to once again host this huge event . We would like to thank everyone for their support. We look forward to an even bigger and better  2016 KC Champions Cup.

Congratulations to Kyle Atkins!

Kyle Atkins was assigned to officiate

the Sporting KC vs Real Salt Lake match

on Saturday , April 11th.

Heartland Soccer's New Referee Development Academy Program (RDAP)

The Academy went spectacularly well!  I think everyone was surprised at how much they got out of it (refs and mentors alike).  Four kiddos got observed in the middle, and 4 were observed on the line. Each had a Mentor paired with them for specific feedback, and as someone they can get to know better throughout the season. The post-match feedback sessions were the best part of the day.  Everyone sat together and talked about their set of 2 games as a group. Referees asked questions, Mentors discussed options, and as a group, everyone learned something.  I believe all the participants are excited to sign up for and participate in the remaining Tournament Academies.

KANSAS CITY INVITATIONAL

KCI Traditional Logo

The Overland Park Soccer Complex will be busy Memorial day weekend, May 22nd-25th, 2015, for the Kansas City Invitational tournament. In 2014 about 334 teams participated in the Kansas City Invitational. The longer holiday weekend and access to additional fields make this the Heartland spring tournament that is least likely to have to turn teams away. The three day weekend allows for easy travel and game schedules, and is free of league conflicts. Your team will play against diverse teams from throughout central United States. The large tournament size and good seeding are sure to give your team well-matched competition.
