Heartland Soccer Association has named Whataburger the title sponsor of the 2025 Midwest Mother’s Day Classic, scheduled for May 9–11 at the Garmin Olathe Soccer Complex and Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex. As part of the partnership, the tournament will carry the official name Midwest Mother’s Day Classic Presented by Whataburger and will welcome elite youth teams from across the Midwest for a weekend of high-level competition.
“We’re incredibly excited and honored to partner with Heartland Soccer for the Midwest Mother’s Day Classic,” said Charles Johnson, field marketing manager for Whataburger in Kansas and Missouri. “We love serving the Kansas City area, and with more than 385 teams competing, we look forward to bringing our all-time favorites to the players, coaches, referees and their families, especially all the moms out there during this exciting weekend of soccer.”
Held annually over Mother’s Day weekend, the event has become a key regional competition, drawing more than 385 teams from seven states. The large number of visiting teams and families is expected to generate an estimated $7.6 million in economic impact for the Kansas City area, supporting local hotels, restaurants and businesses.
“We are proud to partner with Whataburger,” said Bridgette Samuelson, Heartland Soccer’s director of partnership development and operations. “They have a strong history of giving back to the community and supporting athletic programs. Their commitment to creating meaningful connections aligns with Heartland Soccer Association’s mission of fostering a better, more inclusive community for all.”
All matches played at Garmin Olathe Soccer Complex will be live streamed and available for playback through VidSport, a next-generation sports streaming platform. As the world’s largest fixed AI camera installation at a soccer-specific facility, VidSport provides fans access to matches from any device and offers individual player highlights to enhance recruitment and game review.
Media are invited to cover the event, which begins Friday at 5:30 p.m., with games continuing Saturday and Sunday beginning at 8 a.m.
Next on the Heartland Soccer calendar is the KC Invitational Presented by CH Roofing & Exteriors, May 23-25, followed by the Kansas City 3v3 Challenge, set for June 14. Looking ahead, the Fall Tournament Series will begin in August. Registration is now open for all seven tournaments in the series.
