Heartland Soccer’s Fall Kick Off Challenge Hits Record Breaking Registration
 Overland Park based soccer tournament will generate up to an estimated $1 million economic impact.

Overland Park, KS- August 11-13, 2017, Heartland Soccer Association will give teams their first opportunity to get early games in with the start of the fall season in the sold out Fall Kick Off Challenge.

In its 8th year, the Fall Kick Off Challenge has grown into the largest early season fall tournament in Kansas City. The tournament features three levels of play (Gold, Silver and Bronze) providing excellent competition and is formatted to be particularly family friendly.

The Fall Kick Off Challenge is headquartered at the Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex and also features the first tournament games at the new Wyandotte Sporting Fields. Both are central locations with many hotel, restaurant and entertainment options to suit every team’s budget and taste.

Heartland’s tournaments continue to grow and attract teams from all around the region. This 2017 tournament is the largest Fall Kick Off Challenge to date as it will welcome in 246 teams from 5 states; Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

With teams traveling in from all over the KC metropolitan area and various states, the economic impact is expected to be up to $1 million over the weekend.

“The Fall Kick Off Challenge has grown into an important part of our tournament series.  It’s a great way to get the kids excited and back into the swing of things as the fall season begins,” said Shane Hackett, Heartland Soccer Association executive director. “We are continuing to experience significant growth in our regional tournaments as teams travel from across the Midwest to visit our world class facilities and compete on the fields.  We are excited to host thousands of families this weekend.”

The first set of games will start at 5:00PM on Friday. Saturday and Sunday games will begin at approximately 7:00AM with the award ceremonies set for Sunday early evening.

Up next for Heartland will be the Heartland Midwest Classic at the Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex, which is expected to bring in approximately 250 teams. The tournament is set for Labor Day weekend, September 1-3rd with no games on Labor Day.
